The Eastern Electrics Podcast: my new show

My new show hath arrived. This week sees me kick off my weekly show for Eastern Electrics, the London event and festival that recently announced its first 3-day full-on camping festival for August 2013.

As always, my focus is on nothing but the freshest new music, focused a little more around house and tech than previously but still with some eclectic flavours in the mix. In this first show, I play music from their NYE line-up (taking place at The Coronet in London), and plenty more besides.

My last ever Data Transmission Round-Up Podcast

I have some news people… this week is my last ever Round-Up Podcast for Data Transmission

After three-and-a-half years and 175 shows, it’s time for me to move on to pastures new. I want to say thank you to everyone who has listened to and supported the show since we started it, and to all the producers, labels, promo/PR companies and blogs for supplying me with so much good music each week. I hope I’ve turned a lot of you on to lots of new artists and that you’ve enjoyed my stay. Over and out… and I’ll be back with something new soon.

For now, listen to my last ever show with new music from Henrik Schwarz, Angel Haze, Deetron, Jimmy Edgar, dOP, Todd Edwards, Ashley Beedle, Neil Landstrumm in the Mixcloud player.

A special prize for my 1000th follower

You heard me. My 1000th follower on Twitter is going to be the (potentially) lucky recipient of their very own track, made by my fair, shamefully small and “freakishly soft” hands.

The winner gets to choose the style of the track, request any samples or tracks to be sampled for it, and whether they want a vocal or not – with lyrics on a subject of their choosing if so. They can then do what the hell they want with it, but I suspect the result won’t have any major labels chomping at hands.

I made a gabba track for a friend’s birthday once which ran at a pacey 220 BPM and mostly comprised of me and another friend screaming expletives over manic gypsy music. Hopefully this bespoke effort will be a bit more palatable.

Summer releases

Check out my two latest releases, which both came out over the last two months…

First up, the deep, melodic, hypnotic Like A Hole In The Head on Lewis Ryder’s acclaimed Bigger Deer Recordings, which has featured the likes of tech house legend Terry Francis. Nick Warren has been supporting this one amongst others:

And my dubstep meets house opus Charm The Monkey (Out The Tree) on Electric Sheep Recordings offshoot Black Sheep Trax. Great remixes, and the full package has support from Richie Hawtin, Cevin Fisher, Moodymanc, Slam and more…

More releases coming soon – including a remix for German band Bullmeister on Universal Germany, another remix for Baker Street Recordings and a new EP for them, and some other bits. Hold tight a for a new free edit too…
